Hands-On Class

 

 

Prerequisite is Basic PV Class – class is limited to 8 people

The class builds a 1728 watt array using Sharp 216 watt modules mounted on a UniRac racking system.

 

 

 

Class Agenda:

1. Roof Layout  6. Wire Array 11. Calculate expected output
2. Mounting supports with flashing 7. Produce an electrical arc by shorting array 12. Start-up systems
3. Build UniRac racking system  8. Penetrate roof with wires 13. Discuss electrical connections
4. Explore grounding methods 9. Install and wire inverter 14. Experiment with the effects of shading
5. Mount modules  10. Wire Disconnects and back-fed breakers 15. Take apart and put away array

 

 

Remarks from students:

- Class is small so everyone gets a chance

- Working with the equipment makes the classroom info come to life

- Feel what it's like to be on a roof

The Hands-On Class costs $ 100.  This class is 4 hours long.  Start time varies – 9 am in winter and 7 am in summer.  You will receive a handout on roof layout design.  Payment for this class is due before the date of the class in order to register for this class.

This class is now part of the 5 Day Seminar.

Place:  194 South Federal Blvd. , Denver, CO  80219   One block north of Alameda on the northeast corner of Federal and Cedar.  Please park on the street and enter the back of the building off the alley.
