Ken has been
teaching solar electric classes for the last 5 years.
Ken was first asked to give an hour presentation on PV
grounding at the 2005 CoSEIA Annual Conference. This
presentation was so well received he was asked to design
and give the CoSEIA 3-Day PV Installer Workshop by
President Jon Klima. Again in 2007, Ken was asked by
CoSEIA to design and present an advanced PV class.
Ken’s Advanced PV Code Class was the result, showing the
many changes in the 2008 NEC that affect solar
installations. A code class now required for the
CoSEIA Certification.

Ken Teaching advance code class to 125
inspectors March 4th 2010
In 2007, Ken saw the
need for and started offering a simple basic PV class.
Soon after, he developed a Hands-On class using the roof
of a garage at his shop in SW Denver. In 2008 and 2009,
Ken helped Arapahoe Community College get their PV
Training Program started and taught their first 2
sessions of classes and the Hands-On class. In early
2009, Ken conducted a special class for the Denver
Electrical inspectors, and since been asked to give an
all day inspectors class to over 100 state wide
electrical inspectors in March 2010.

At the end of 2008,
Ken was asked by a company in Boston to give a three-day
PV seminar at various locations on the east coast. From
May until September 2009, Ken has given 10 of these
seminars. He has received good feedback from these
classes. As Ken sees more and
more PV training facilities emerging onto the scene
during this last year, he has decided to design a class
directed toward electrical tradesmen wanting to enter
the PV industry. This class would be a fast track
toward a NABCEP Installer Certification. Ken is dedicated to
educating anyone involved in the solar industry in an
attempt to improve the quality of installations based on
the guide lines of the National Electric Code.

On the 5th day of
the NABCEP 5 day class, Ken and his students will build
a working OutBack PS2 battery backed up system
from scratch.
